Η Θεοδώρογλου Ανό κατάγεται από τη Θεσσαλονίκη. Την περίοδο 2010-2015 σπούδασε στο Τμήμα Εικαστικών και Εφαρμοσμένων Τεχνών του ΠΔΜ της Φλώρινας, με κατευθύνσεις την ζωγραφική και την χαρακτική, υπό την επίβλεψη του Γιάννη Ζιώγα και της Δήμητρας Σιατερλή αντίστοιχα. Το διάστημα 2016-2018 πραγματοποίησε μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στη Μουσειολογία – Διαχείριση Πολιτισμού στο τμήμα Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών του ΑΠΘ.
Το εικαστικό της έργο αποτελεί μια διαρκή σπουδή πάνω στην ετερότητα και τη συνάντηση του ανθρώπινου με το μη ανθρώπινο, στο πως συνδέεται η Ζωή στις πολλαπλές της εκφάνσεις. Οι επιρροές της πηγάζουν κυρίως από την επιστημονική φαντασία, τη φεμινιστική και queer θεωρία. Οι απεικονίσεις στα έργα της αφορούν κατά κύριο λόγο υβριδικά υποκείμενα: Όντα που προσεγγίζουν το ανθρώπινο, φέροντας όμως στοιχεία μη ανθρώπινα, συχνά τερατώδη και αλλόκοσμα. Στις διάφορες εκφάνσεις και πλαισιώσεις τους, αυτά τα όντα τείνουν να θέτουν μια διερώτηση για το τι θεωρείται “ανθρώπινη συνθήκη”: με τον έναν ή τον άλλον τρόπο αποτελούν ετερότητες, συμβολικούς “Άλλους” όπου βρίσκονται σε μια διαρκή κίνηση θετικής διεύρυνσης αυτής της συνθήκης.
Έχει ασχοληθεί σε ερευνητικό επίπεδο με τα LGBT και queer μουσεία, καθώς και επί του γενικότερου με την σεξουαλικότητα στον μουσειακό χώρο, το πως αυτή υπάρχει ως αφήγηση στα μουσεία, ιστορικά και πολιτικά. Βασικό ζητούμενο της έρευνάς της υπήρξαν οι τρόποι με τους οποίους τα μουσεία στην ίδια τους τη δομή και λειτουργία μπορούν να υπερβούν τον ηγεμονικό λόγο και πρακτικές.
Έχει πάρει μέρος σε ομαδικές εκθέσεις, παρουσιάσεις, διαδικτυακές δημοσιεύσεις, φεστιβάλ εικαστικών τεχνών, κόμικς και αυτοεκδόσεων.
Theodoroglou Ano is a visual artist from Thessaloniki. She earned an integrated Master’s degree in Arts at the School of Fine and Applied Arts, at the University of Western Macedonia, Florina (2010-2015). During that period she studied painting and etching under the direction of Yiannis Ziogas and Dimitra Siaterli, respectively. Subsequently she acquired a second Master’s degree in Museology and Cultural Management, at the School of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. (2016-2018)
The body of her work is a continuous study on otherness, the encounters of the human and the non-human, the ways Life connects in its multiple appearances. Her influences mainly derive from science fiction, feminist and queer theory. The depictions in her artworks concern hybrid subjects: Creatures on the verge of being humane, while bearing non-human, usually monstrous and otherworldly elements. In their various manifestations and contexts, these creatures tend to set a question on what constitutes “the human condition”: in one way or an other, they are symbolic “Others” in a constant move for a positive expansion of that so called condition.
In terms of academic research she has been engaged with LGBT and queer museums, as well as with the ways sexuality exists and is being represented within museums, historically and politically. A key issue of her research were the ways in which museums, within their own structures can exceed the hegemonic discourse and practices on sexuality.
During the years she has participated in multiple group exhibitions, presentations, online publications, festivals about arts, comics and self-publications.
