Νατάσσα Κότσαλα – Natassa Kotsala

Γεννήθηκε στη Θεσσαλονίκη το 1980. Είναι απόφοιτη του τμήματος εικαστικών και εφαρμοσμένων τεχνών, της σχολής Καλών Τεχνών του ΑΠΘ. Ασχολείται κυρίως με φωτογραφία, video art και εγκαταστάσεις.

Αυτό που κανείς δεν του δίνει σημασία, το παράξενο, το περιθωριακό, που έχει έναν προκαθορισμένο ρόλο, αλλά τελικά κρύβει και κάτι άλλο, πέρα από αυτό που όλοι βλέπουμε. Το ερωτικό παιχνίδι και ο αισθησιασμός του μπαλονιού, ο φετιχισμός στην κίνηση και την τροφή, η χρωματική και συνθετική ισορροπία των σκουπιδιών, του σάπιου, του βρώμικου, η αισθητική μετάλλαξη μέσα από την καταγραφή της φθοράς με την επιβεβλημένη εγγύτητα της μακροφωτογράφησης, η εισβολή που προκαλεί αμηχανία μέσω της αμφιλεγόμενης εικόνας, ο κόσμος μέσα στον κόσμο, μια άλλη πραγματικότητα, απρόβλεπτη, μεταβλητή που αξιοποιεί και μετασχηματίζει το ανοίκειο, σε ανήκειν και μου ανήκει.

She was born in Thessaloniki in 1980. She studied in the department of visual and applied arts, in the school of fine arts of AUTH. She mainly focuses on photography, video art and installation projects.

The insignificant, the weird, the marginal, the one with predetermined use, but the one which contains something concealed that lives beyond the obvious. The eroticism and sensuality of balloons, the fetishism in movement and food, the chromatic and synthetic balance found in the rubbish, the rotten, the dirty, the aesthetic mutation seen through the recording of decay by the forced intimacy of macro photography, the invasion that causes embarrassment through the controversial image, a world inside another world, another reality, unpredictable, a variable that reclaims and restructures the unfamiliar, into belonging both to the world and me.
